As top UK wedding planners, we’re often asked how we work and what we do for our wedding planning clients. Whilst the wedding planning industry has grown significantly in the UK, there’s still an air of mystery about what we do and many still believe that wedding planners are only hired by the rich and famous – not true!
Our wedding planning clients tend to be busy professionals, couples who are raising a family that are pushed for time or couples who are based overseas who need a local presence to help with the wedding planning. All of our clients appreciate the time, challenges and complexity of planning an incredible wedding so turn to a professional UK wedding planner to make the process stress-free! Here’s an overview of the wedding planning work we undertake for our wedding planning clients.
In a nutshell!
As wedding planners, our role is to help our clients plan and design the wedding from their wildest dreams. We support our clients in many ways, but essentially, it’s our job to provide creative, practical and logistical input to ensure that we bring their vision for the perfect wedding to life. Whilst it’s impossible to list every task that we’ll undertake for our wedding planning clients, here are some of the key areas that we are likely to cover when planning a wedding.
Sourcing the perfect venue
At One Curious Dream, our first task when working with a new wedding planning client is to conduct a full briefing consultation. We’ll take the time to get to know you, chat through the initial ideas that you have for your wedding and establish your key criteria such as your budget, guest numbers and the general overview of what you are aiming to achieve with your wedding.
From there, our first stop is always to source the perfect wedding venue. Whether you’re hoping to host a beautifully relaxed tipi wedding, an elegant country garden marquee wedding or even fancy spreading your celebrations across two or three days and having a weekend wedding, our team of experienced wedding planners will find the perfect venues to host your wedding.
Firstly, we’ll review a large number of potential wedding venues before producing a shortlist of appropriate venues that fit your criteria. From there, we’ll arrange venue viewings for you to go and take a look at the wedding venues in person. For clients who are based overseas, we’ll often conduct a video walkthrough of the venue so that you a great substitute for seeing the space in person. Once the venue is booked, we then move on to supplier sourcing.
Finding your suppliers
As experienced wedding planners, we have a little black book full of trusted wedding suppliers who want to help bring your perfect wedding to life. Again, by establishing the key criteria for each element of your wedding, be it catering, floristry, hair and makeup etc, we’ll reach out to our network, source detailed quotations, review the contracts and ensure we have the very best people on board to help us create your wedding.
The guest experience
Once your venue and suppliers have been booked, we move into the guest experience stage. This is where we think about all of the special touches that will truly personalise your wedding. W want to consider how you want your guests to feel, the mood your hoping to create at each stage of your wedding and ultimately, how we’re going to make that happen! For example, you might want to create a really fun, uplifting vibe straight after your ceremony, so choosing vibrant music, quirky cocktails and unique canapes is a really good way of helping your guests relax and get into the swing of things!
Style AND substance!
Our award-winning team of wedding designers will be working with you to ensure your wedding looks picture-perfect and that the design works practically with all of the plans you’ve made.
All about the details
Next, we move into our coordination phase – we’ll be liaising with your suppliers regularly to ensure they are fully briefed and of course, we’ll be pulling the details together for any guests who need assistance. Lots of our wedding planning couples are based overseas which often means we have lots of international guests who require assistance with transport and accommodation – we’ll take care of making these arrangements for you.
The big day!
Finally, the wedding itself! It’s our job to ensure that all of the plans we have made together are delivered perfectly across your wedding. We’ll be on-site to work with your suppliers, help your guests, ensure the wedding is flowing correctly and of course, step in to discretely manage anything unforeseen that occurs.
We’ll take care of the details big and small, from lighting the candles on your tables through to ensuring your DJ and band are set up correctly. We’re usually with you early on the day and leave after evening food has been served, leaving you to part the night away!
Many of our weddings take place across the weekend, so this means we’ll be back bright and early the next day to manage your event, whether this is a post-wedding brunch or BBQ or something more formal, we’re there to ensure everything runs smoothly!
Of course, it’s impossible to list all of the tasks we’ll undertake as your wedding planners, but hopefully, this gives you a flavour of how we can help.
