Tipi Wedding, Wedding Planning Advice

As a wedding stylist in Norfolk working right across East Anglia (including Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridge and Essex), it’s safe to say that as much as I love planning tipi weddings, I also love styling them too!

Whilst these incredible structures provide a great blank canvas for your wedding, creating a styling and decor plan that looks cohesive, consistent and beautiful can often be tricky for couples hoping to create a wow-factor setting for their big day.

Tipi Wedding Styling Norfolk

Whilst tipi weddings offer vast amounts of freedom to plan and style your wedding, your way, the choices can be overwhelming. That’s why, today, I’m super excited to share some tipi wedding styling tips to make your wedding planning and design journey a breeze!

The tipi entrance

Whilst most tipis will have open sides to allow the beautiful summer breeze to cool your wedding guests, having an entrance or focal point is essential. Your guests will see your wedding tipi’s from a distance, so having something pretty to welcome them as they get up close is a great idea. Whether you fancy using brightly coloured festival flags, shepherds hooks with tealights in jars, festoon lights around the edge of the tipi or even a floral arbour, make sure you start your tipi wedding decor the right way!

Tipi wedding signage

As part of my wedding styling service, I’ll always advise on the type of signage you should consider for your tipi wedding. Having a welcome sign and order of the day signs are essential, but don’t forget, you might need signs to direct guests to the loos, car parking or chill out areas too.

The tipi ceiling

From decorating the poles to hanging decorations from the tipi apex, the options and ideas are endless. As a wedding stylist, I love helping my clients design floral or foliage installations to create a wow-factor piece in the centre of the tipi. Lots of couples will use lanterns, disco balls, birdcages or simple lighting to ensure there is added interest at the heart of your tipi wedding.

The wedding tables

For the most part, my styling couples opt opt for a more a rustic or boho look when styling their wedding tables. Banquet style long wooden rustic tables work really well and encourage your guests to have a truly sociable and inclusive wedding breakfast. Having said that, I have seen couples use round tables to great effect, and the joy of styling a tipi wedding is that anything goes.

Tipi chill-out area

Having a chill-out area within one of your tipi tents is a great idea, particularly for the evening when guests might want to relax, listen to music and enjoy the party from afar. No matter the style of wedding you’re planning, it’s so important that you provide space for wedding guests who don’t necessarily want to dance the night away so that they are not stood on their feet all night!

Beautiful vintage or boho furniture works well, or you can even create a Moroccan style den with low-level cushions and pouffes layered on top of Persian rugs.

Lights, lights, lights.

The lighting you have at your tipi wedding plays a crucial role in helping you create the right ambience. In tipis, festoon or fairy lights look particularly beautiful when wrapped around poles or strung from beam to beam. Don’t forget to include lighting for outside the tipis as well – you’ll need guests to be able to find the loos and car park as a minimum.

Tipi Wedding Styling board

Don’t forget to set up a Pinterest board to gather all of your tipi wedding styling ideas in one place. You’ll also be able to share these ideas with your wedding stylist easily and they’ll be able to work collaboratively with you to plan the wedding design of your dreams!
