Wedding planning resolutions – are you making any?
Firstly, here’s wishing you a HUGE Happy New Year! After what can only be described as a bumpy 2020, I, for one, can’t wait to begin a new year, in what will hopefully be more positive times ahead!
I always think that the new year gives you an excellent opportunity to wipe the slate clean and move forwards in a more positive way.
For many couples planning a wedding, it’s a chance to reflect and make small changes that will ensure their wedding planning journey is easier. Whether it’s biting the bullet and having an awkward conversation, revisiting their wedding budget to make sure they are still on track or FINALLY tackling the table plan (we’ve all been there), it’s time to swallow the frog and get things done!
If you’ve reached an impasse with your wedding planning, or you’re simply feeling stuck in a rut, here are the new year’s resolutions you really should make!
I will ask for help when I need it
I know how frustrating it can feel when the weight of wedding planning is being carried firmly on your shoulders. In most couples, one party tends to take more of a lead role when it comes to wedding planning, and that pressure can sometimes build up. If you need more input or support from your partner, ASK! The chances are they may not even know you’re struggling. Similarly, don’t be afraid to delegate wedding-related tasks or ask your bridal party, friends or family to step in before planning becomes overwhelming.
There are some amazing online resources filled with wedding planning advice and tips, take a look at websites such as Rock My Wedding or Rock n Roll Bride as starting points. The One Curious Dream wedding blog is also jam-packed with wedding ideas and inspo, so definitely worth a look!
I will trust my dream team
I know sometimes it’s hard to let go, BUT, you must place your trust in your wedding suppliers. The reality is that we all want you to have an AMAZING wedding, so if we are sharing advice with you, it is in your best interest to absorb this. From ensuring your wedding budget is spent wisely, through to helping you with the timings and flow of your day, we have the knowledge and expertise, so let us help your big day go off with a bang!
I will manage my wedding budget
Whether you’re having a low-key wedding or planning something luxurious and extravagant, you must set a budget and stick to it! Establishing your priorities before you begin sourcing your wedding suppliers (fantastic food, an incredible band or that luxury Oyster bar, for example) will help you allocate your funds and once you’ve decided how to spend your money, don’t deviate!
When it comes to wedding planning, it’s all too easy to be swept along in the moment, so knowing what you can afford to spend, and how you wish to spend it, will keep you on track. After all, nobody wants to be bickering about money or beginning married life under a pile of debt!
I will take time out from wedding planning
Many couples find that wedding planning can quickly take over their entire lives! So, if all of your interactions with your fiance, friends and family are wedding-related, it’s time to take a step back.
Make sure you lock in date nights where wedding talk is completely banned and do make sure you spend time with your loved ones where you focus on anything other than the wedding. Not only will your nearest and dearest thank you, taking time out from wedding planning now and again will keep you fresh and focused.
I will ENJOY planning my wedding
Honestly? This is probably the most crucial piece of advice I can give you. Remember, folks; wedding planning is supposed to be FUN! Try and keep in mind that no matter what, as long as you and your loved one make your commitment to one another, everything else is a beautiful bonus!
If you’re feeling frazzled, try the tips above and see if they help you get back on track. It’s a new year, and a new beginning so chin up, and best foot forward!
