Why you should plan a mid-week wedding!

If you’re currently considering wedding planners in London to help plan your wedding across the UK, why not sign up to receive the regular wedding blog from Jo Pyman. Jo is an award-winning wedding event planner who plans weddings across the UK. Today, she’s sharing why you should consider planning a mid-week wedding!

It will come as no surprise after the last year that the popularity of mid-week weddings is soaring. As a multi-award-winning wedding organiser in London and the UK, many of my clients are now choosing to get married during the week, or on non-peak dates to finally get their marriage plans across the line.

At first, many couples are reluctant to consider a mid-week wedding date, but actually, there’s a surprising number of benefits to planning a mid-week wedding. Here are some top reasons why planning a mid-week wedding could be the answer to your wedding planning prayers!

Wedding Planners Advice I Wedding Cost

Let me appeal to those purse strings in the first instance!! The reality is that pricing for mid-week weddings is generally significantly lower when compared with weddings that are taking place across peak summer weekend dates.

Many wedding venues offer discounted mid-week rates to ensure they operate at capacity throughout the year so it’s worth taking advantage of this. The money you save on your wedding venue can be put towards those special touches (amazing band or that gorgeous amuse bouche course!), or in some cases, the discount offered by the wedding venue for a mid-week wedding may mean you can secure the dream wedding venue that you may otherwise not have been able to afford. Win!

As a London wedding planner, I help my clients spend their wedding budget wisely, and that includes stretching their funds as far as possible. One of the first questions I always ask my wedding planning clients is whether they’ll consider a non-peak or out of season wedding date as it really does offer so much flexibility.

Wedding Planners in London I Wedding Supplier Availability

Opting for a mid-week wedding date will generally mean there’s a wider pool of wedding suppliers with availability to help you bring your wedding vision to life. As a wedding planner and wedding stylist, I’m generally booked months and often years in advance, particularly for peak dates throughout the summer – it’s the same for great wedding suppliers, particularly wedding photographers and wedding caterers.

However, if you opt for a mid-week wedding date, you might just find your dream wedding supplier has availability, even though you may have a relatively short lead-up to your big day.

As I’ve had so many of my clients decide to postpone their weddings to 22 and beyond, I have space during peak season which I wouldn’t ordinarily have – so it’s worth asking potential suppliers whether they can help, even if you assume they’d be booked!

Wedding Planners in London I Wedding Considerations

Of course, there are a couple of important points to consider before you choose a mid-week wedding date. Firstly, it’s really important to consider your wedding guest list and establish that the key people you must have at your wedding will be able to attend if you opt for a mid-week date.

Lots of couples worry that this will be a great inconvenience to their loved ones, but mid-week weddings as a general rule, receive a similar level of attendance as weddings which take place at the weekend. Still, it’s worth having the all-important discussion with key figures so that you can rest easy knowing they’ll be with you.

It’s also really important to check in with wedding guests who are travelling from overseas, particularly as any time off work is likely to need to be extended to cover the travel time, and possibly even some cushioning for jetlag.

Finally, it’s worth considering a wedding venue that has on-site accommodation. If your guests can make a bit of a mid-week break in a beautiful area where they can explore the sights and sounds, they are far more likely to say yes!
