Do you need a Wedding Event Planner for your marquee wedding?
If you’re on the hunt for your dream marquee wedding venue, then today’s blog from marquee wedding event planner Jo Pyman at One Curious Dream will be the perfect read for you!
As an award-winning UK wedding planner specialising in planning and styling beautiful marquee weddings, I can tell you we’re spoilt for choice across the UK when it comes to amazing marquee wedding venues! The majority of my couples choose to plan a marquee wedding at their home or on private land, but if you do need to source another location, there are alternative options available.
Here’s my guide to where you can plan a marquee wedding in the UK.
Country House Marquee Weddings
Now, I won’t share specific marquee wedding venues today, but needless to say, we’re spoilt for choice across the UK where we have a plethora of divine wedding venues on offer! Firstly, there is a wide range of country house wedding venues that specialise in offering marquee weddings.
For example, in East Anglia, if you’re looking for a venue with privacy and space to relax and enjoy a weekend wedding, then Voewood Weddings, Chaucer Barn and Barn Drift weddings will all tick the box!
However, many marquee wedding venues will already have a fixed, permanent marquee erected on their grounds for you to use. The joy of this is that much of the infrastructure will already be in place (power, water, lighting, for example) which make planning your marquee wedding much more straightforward.
Do be aware that there are often restrictions that come with this style of marquee structure, in particular around the styling and decorating the marquee. You may not be able to hang things or have naked flames, so the note here is to check with the marquee wedding venue about any specific requirements that they have.
Marquee Weddings at Home
Lots of country house wedding venues and independent spaces (land for hire) throughout the UK also have acres of land where you can erect a marquee. The joy of this is that you will be able to choose the specific marquee type that you would like, though again, do check with the marquee wedding venue as some will only allow you to use particular marquee providers.
If you opt for this style of marquee wedding venue, it’s essential to check what infrastructure is in place as hiring in power, loos (etc.) can make a large dent in your budget.
Marquee Wedding Suppliers
You’ll need to work closely with your chosen marquee provider to select an appropriate location to erect the marquee. As marquee experts, they’ll be able to guide you through the process and help you consider all of the critical factors.
Marquee Wedding Timeline and Preparation
Many One Curious Dream wedding planning clients choose to host their marquee wedding at home which offers so much flexibility to truly personalise every aspect of your wedding.
Many of my wedding planning clients who choose a garden wedding love the freedom that this style of wedding provides. If you’re hosting a marquee wedding at home, you’ll be able to project manage the lead-up to your wedding carefully, but as a warning, this isn’t for the faint-hearted!
In the final few days before your wedding, your home will be descended upon by a whole host of wedding suppliers who need to set up for your wedding day. There will be lots of traffic, lorries, vans and people!
Setting up for a marquee wedding is a very delicate process with lots of moving parts that all need to work together in harmony to ensure your wedding is professionally prepared.
It’s crucial that if you’re hosting your marquee wedding at home, you’re prepared for the disruption and if you’re using the land of a family member or friend, it’s critical to keep them fully included in the preparations. Having a wedding timeline of events, including deliveries, setup and de-rig will certainly help alleviate any stress!
Marquee wedding advice
Wherever you choose to hold your marquee wedding, there will need to be suitable access for suppliers, vehicles and of course your guests.
As beautiful and idyllic as a remote location might seem, your wedding guests won’t want to walk for miles across fields to get to the wedding marquee, so keep this in mind when selecting the location. It’s essential you also consider guests who may have mobility issues and make arrangements for them to access the site if the journey is incredibly bumpy or lengthy.
Don’t forget, it’s likely that taxi’s or coaches will need to access the site to collect your guests in the evening (always pre-book these), so make sure they know exactly where to collect from at the marquee site.
