If you’re currently reviewing UK wedding planners to help plan your wedding, why not register for the One Curious Dream wedding planning blog? Packed full of useful tips and advice to help you organise your wedding, you’re sure to learn a thing or two!
As a professional UK Wedding Planner, I’d love to share the four things you need to do to ensure your guests have fun at your wedding!
Contrary to popular belief, having a fantastic wedding where everybody has an incredible time isn’t linked solely to how much cash you have splashed on your wedding day.
Honestly, the gold cutlery (whilst admittedly, it might look pretty!) won’t have any real bearing on how much your guests enjoy the day. So, what’s the magic secret? It’s to ensure you focus on the guest experience when planning your wedding day.
Here are my top three tips on how to ensure your guests have fun at your wedding!
- Focus on the wedding timeline
I know this sounds incredibly dull, but we’ve all been to weddings (NOT One Curious Dream weddings, I might add!) where we’ve all spent far too long waiting around with nothing happening – in fact, the reception drinks are depleted, the canapes are gone, and now there’s a big empty chunk of nothing!
Similarly, it’s easy for couples to not allow enough time for key events throughout the day, rushing people through their meal, for example, where guests feel hurried and unable to relax.
If you’re working with a wedding planner or wedding coordinator, they’ll be able to help you tie down the details, but otherwise, there’s plenty of great advice on how to plan your wedding timeline on this blog and online.
Quick wedding tips:
Ensure your reception drinks are no longer than 1.5 hours and then get everybody prepared for the wedding breakfast
Hire a simple form of entertainment for the reception, a close up magician, live artist, even a great musical act will ensure the time is filled in the right way!
Keep speeches short and sweet, no more than 5 minutes each. Yep, really!
2. Personalise your wedding
It’s so important to inject your personalities into your wedding day; after all, nobody wants to throw a cookie-cutter wedding! By sharing your love story and including personal and authentic elements, your guests will truly engage with the experience you’re giving them. Don’t be afraid to think differently and create a wedding that uniquely reflects you both as a couple.
3. Hire the right wedding suppliers
I know this one might sound a little odd, but having a trusted team on hand to expertly deliver your wedding day will make a world of difference. Beaming smiles and staff engaged in the day are essential, but ensuring you have enough staff on hand to service your day is equally important. After all, your guests won’t want to spend ages queuing for drinks or waiting for their water/wine to be topped up at the table.
Staffing most definitely isn’t an area to take cost-cutting measures, so do get input from the professionals you’ve hired to bring your wedding to life. Just one note of caution! Some couples are happy for members of their bridal party to undertake jobs throughout the day – BUT, don’t you want these people to be able to relax and enjoy the celebration too?
4. Consider hiring a wedding coordinator
Hiring a wedding coordinator could be an excellent way to ensure you still have a professionally and expertly managed wedding without needing your guests to step up and undertake tasks throughout the wedding day.
So, keep focusing on the wedding guest experience, and you’ll guarantee your guests will have fun!
