Plan a marquee wedding – what you need to know!

If you’re hoping to plan a marquee wedding and are considering hiring a marquee wedding event planner, then today’s wedding blog will be the perfect read for you!

It’s no secret that as a specialist marquee wedding planner, I adore planning this beautifully elegant style of wedding! Working with couples across the UK, I help my clients plan unique, authentic marquee weddings which are full of personality, fun and love!

Still, it’s worth mentioning that planning a marquee wedding, particularly at home or on private hired land, isn’t for the faint-hearted! Whilst planning a wedding in a marquee will generally offer a huge amount of flexibility to personalise your wedding day exactly to your requirements, there are many challenges to navigate and logistical pitfalls to avoid. Here are a couple of the key pointers you need to know before you begin planning a wedding.

Planning a marquee wedding = an intensive wedding planning workload!

Lots of couples decide to hire a marquee wedding event planner to ensure they can relax and enjoy the planning experience, however, many couples planning a marquee wedding are happy to handle the workload themselves.

Whilst planning a marquee wedding is lots of fun, there is so much more work involved in creating a large wedding event on this scale. As you are essentially building your wedding from scratch, you’ll need to consider every single element of the wedding, even the boring and unexciting things like loos and security!

For many time-pressured couples, opting for a package wedding in a more traditional wedding venue will certainly mean less stress and will take less time. Did you know, for example, that the average marquee wedding will take around 350 hours to plan? That’s a lot of time to find when your lives are already busy!

Finding marquee wedding suppliers

As well as finding a wedding venue to host the marquee wedding, you’ll need to source a wide range of wedding suppliers who can offer not only the standard wedding elements (catering and photography, for example) but also those who have a range of specialist wedding services too – generators, toilets, outdoor lighting, security etc – the list goes on! You’ll obviously need to find the perfect marquee type and marquee provider for your chosen style of wedding too.

When it comes to decorating your marquee, you’ll need to think about creating a beautiful space on the marquee ceiling and this is often easily achieved with hanging flowers and lighting. A specialist marquee wedding florist and lighting expert will be able to help!

Marquee wedding planner knowledge

Picture the scene, everything on your wedding day is running perfectly to plan, the first dance begins and the power goes out! Disaster, right? When planning a wedding in a marquee, you’re going to need to learn and learn quickly – it’s probably quite obvious that you’ll need a generator to power the wedding tent, but do you know what power your caterers will use for their kitchen equipment, for example?

Then start adding lighting, sound for your DJ and band, electricity for your toilets etc and the small generator that sounded like such a bargain is no longer sufficient to power your wedding! Again, hiring a specialist marquee wedding planner will take this worry away and ensure all of the correct facilities are in place for you to have the perfect wedding.
