It’s safe to say that weddings have evolved massively across the past decade – gone are the days where couples would have a quick ceremony at the registry office and then pop to the local pub for a buffet to celebrate afterwards! Don’t believe us? Ask your parents or grandparents about their wedding and they’ll happily tell you what the norm was back in their day!
As modern couples move towards creating a more authentic, unique wedding experience, the traditional wedding model has significantly grown and changed shape. At One Curious Dream, our wedding planning clients generally opt to host an extended wedding running across multiple days either during the week or at the weekend.
The reason for this? For many busy couples, the opportunity to spend time with their nearest and dearest all under one roof is rare, so their wedding becomes the perfect opportunity to extend the celebrations and share each magical moment with their loved ones.
As many of you will appreciate, planning a single-day wedding can be challenging, so now imagine planning both a rehearsal event and a post-wedding event too! Three large-scale celebrations rolled into one could test the patience of even the most organised couple, so this is why we designed our weekend wedding planning service.
So, what’s involved? Firstly, we work with our wedding planning couples to plan and design a weekend that has the perfect flow, taking into account wedding guests needs across an extended period. We want to create different moods at different points throughout the weekend so that it flows seamlessly and fluidly from one wedding celebration to the next,
So first up, the pre-wedding rehearsal event. Generally, the wedding rehearsal event is an opportunity to welcome guests, allow them to settle in after their journey to your wedding venue and also give them a flavour of what your wedding weekend will entail.
Our wedding planners generally advise that the wedding rehearsal event is a relaxed affair – whether you opt for a pre-wedding feast under the stars, a casual drinks reception or possibly even a meal at a local restaurant, this is an opportunity for you to connect with your loved ones before the main event.
As a side-note, and not to sound like the fun police, but we always ensure our wedding planning couple are whipped away from the festivities at a sensible time – the temptation to stay up and party with chilled-out guests is often tempting, but it’s so important for you to get an early night and prepare for the actual wedding day!
So, onto the main event, your wedding day! If your wedding rehearsal event and wedding day take place in the same space, the chances are, our team of wedding planners and wedding designers will have been up since the crack of dawn to re-style the wedding venue, transforming it into something new and exciting for you guests to enjoy. We want to embrace the celebration element here, so creating an environment that places the importance on the wedding ceremony but also allows your guests to let their hair down and party in the evening is a top priority.
And then we have the post-wedding event! Perfect for guests who might be feeling a little rough around the edges, we’ve planned everything from a boozy post-wedding breakfast (bloody mary’s and bellini’s – yes!) through to a walk on the beach followed by fish and chips from a local food truck. The idea here is to let people feast, relax, recover and then begin their journey home.
Planning three separate events across your wedding weekend, particularly if they are all styled differently, can be a huge undertaking! Our wedding planners are on hand to not only help you plan each wedding event but of course, will be at your wedding venue across the weekend to ensure everything runs to perfection too!
