At one Curious Dream, our wedding planners have spent the past few weeks helping some of our 2020 couples postpone their wedding to 2021 and beyond so we know there’s lots of you out there who are in exactly the same position. Whilst postponing your wedding is an incredibly difficult decision to make, our team of wedding planners love a bit of positivity so are sharing some little ways that you can turn your original date into one of happiness!
Host a pre-wedding ceremony
Wouldn’t it be lovely to mark the occasion of your original wedding somehow? You and your beau could host a small commitment ceremony at home on the date of your original wedding. Take the time to connect in your relationship, perhaps write some wedding vows and read them to each other and if you want to mark the moment, you could even invite friends and family to your virtual wedding ceremony. Cute af!
Two wedding breakfasts?
Our team of wedding planners LOVE food, so this one is right up our alley! Why not try and recreate your wedding breakfast at home? Granted, you might not quite have the skills of a pro chef, but ake inspiration from your menu and interpret in your own way. If you have chosen sharing platters for your wedding breakfast, create an antipasti board, similarly, if you’ve gone for a lavish, 3-course affair, prepare to spend some time in the kitchen! Candlelight and romance are not optional!
Dance it out!
In these uncertain times, everybody is feeling the urge to let loose! Why not pop on your wedding playlist, perhaps songs you’ve asked your wedding DJ or band to play, and dance it out right there in your living room? This is also the perfect opportunity to practice your first dance and get those steps nailed!
Let there be cake
No justification required here – when you’re undertaking your next household shop, pop a celebration cake into your shopping trolley! Whether it’s a colin the caterpillar or something far more fancy, you can both symbolically cut the cake and feed each other a slice in a replica of this traditional wedding moment!
We’ll level with you here – our wedding planners totally understand that none of these actions will fully ease the sadness you may be feeling on your original wedding date. But, cake, music, dancing and food always go some way to easing the soul and help promote positivity. Keep in mind, that you WILL still get married and it WILL still be incredible.
