So, we’re in week 7 of lockdown here in the UK and I think we’re probably all used to this very strange state of living! At One Curious Dream, our team of wedding planners have spent the past few weeks postponing the majority of our 2020 weddings to 2021 and beyond. It’s been a challenging old time for us as wedding planners, for wedding suppliers and wedding venues and of course, the couples who have been faced with such a difficult decision to make.
Amongst the madness though, it’s been so heartwarming to have heard from so many couples who are still planning their weddings for next year and 2022. So, whilst we’re all learning to adapt to his new way of living, wedding venues and wedding suppliers have also adapted to bring you their goods and services too through virtual venue tours, online meetings etc. But what about you guys? Lockdown isn’t going to go away any time soon, so now’s the perfect time to crack on with those jobs that you’ll struggle to find the time to do otherwise!
Review the budget
I promise the other jobs are more exciting! But, this really is the ideal time to take stock of the financials and check your numbers are lining up as expected. It’s also a great time to decide whether there are other elements you can include (those extra af singing waiters/oyster bar/disco ball hire etc) that you might be able to stretch too now you have a little longer to plan! On that note…
Assemble your dream team!
If you’ve just started on your wedding planning journey, the chances are you’ll still need to book your wedding suppliers. Now is the ideal time to research like mad and find the wedding suppliers who make your heart sing! As we keep saying, 2021 and 2022 weddings are getting full to the brim, so if you have your eye on a particular wedding supplier, now’s the time to get them locked in.
Wedding suppliers are generally bloody lovely people and right now, will have also been dealing with lots of wedding postponements. So, hearing from a new couple will put a spring in their step and you can bet they’ll be dying to hear all about your wedding ideas and aspirations.
Lots of our wedding plannings couples tell us they aren’t very craft-orientated, but now is the perfect time to learn! The chances are you’ll have more time at the weekends to learn a new skill so make the most of this time! Perhaps you could learn calligraphy to whip up your place name cards or write your wedding signage, or maybe you could try your hand at baking to whip up a batch of something lovely for your dessert table.
Our wedding planning clients are doing everything from making their bunting and festival flags through to building lawn games for the wedding reception. So get crafty!
Is there any better time to indulge in a little fantasy shopping? (answer – nope). Most of our wedding planning couples do still welcome gifts in some form, whether a traditional registry option with somewhere like John Lewis or a honeymoon fund with a site like Zankyou, decide what you would both like to ask for and then get cracking!
