Frequently Asked Questions

Where do you plan weddings?

As a multi-award-winning independent Wedding Planner, I work with couples across the globe to professionally plan, beautifully design and expertly produce wow-factor, award-winning weddings across London, the East of England (including Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridge and Essex) and further afield throughout the UK.

I love a road trip, which is handy as I’ll be travelling as far afield as Cornwall, Manchester, Herefordshire and Scotland across the next couple of wedding seasons. So, no matter where you hope to get married in the UK, I’d love to help!

What type of weddings do you plan?

My job as your dedicated wedding planner is to plan and design a wedding that is authentic, personal and unique.

I’ve planned everything from beautifully whimsical outdoor weddings, intimate micro weddings in historic buildings, flamboyantly fun festival weddings, uber-luxurious hotel weddings, right through to elegant fairytale castle weddings.

I apply my signature laidback luxury style and approach to each wedding I plan and design, creating a wedding celebration that is professionally planned, beautifully designed and expertly delivered.

The common thread between the weddings I plan and design is that my couples want to create a sincere occasion in a beautiful setting where the focus is on fun and celebration with their nearest and dearest!

What wedding budget do we need to work with you?

Honest answer? How long is a piece of string! I’ve planned small, intimate micro weddings for less than 25k and large, extravagant weddings with a budget of 6 figures+. I’m open, honest and transparent in the way I work with my wedding planning clients, so I’ll always help you understand what you can realistically achieve with the budget you have.

If I also think your wedding budget will be better spent on your wedding, rather than my wedding planning fees, I’ll tell you! I want you to have an amazing wedding but I will only work with couples where I can truly add value to your wedding planning experience.

When should we book you?

As soon as possible! Simply, the sooner I come on board, the quicker I’m able to ensure your wedding planning journey is smooth and stress-free. The majority of my clients hire me at an early stage of their planning so that I can offer a comprehensive, end to end service. I also work with clients at a later stage, so the key is to make contact whenever you feel you need some professional support.

I’m also extremely privileged that my wedding planning services are in-demand, and key dates can book a couple of years in advance throughout the wedding season. Please do get in touch to check availability and find out how I can tailor a service to suit your requirements.

How many weddings do you work on each year?

I’m very fortunate to be hired by such wonderful couples each year! Planning a wedding is very time consuming (did you know, on average, it takes between 250-350 hours to plan a wedding?!) and therefore I limit the number of full wedding planning clients I work with each season.

I offer a highly personal, bespoke range of wedding planning services and will always do my best to ensure you feel like you’re my only wedding planning client!

We’re not based in the UK, can you help us plan a wedding?

Absolutely! I’m truly proud of my global client base and I work with couples all over the world including America, Australia and the Middle East.

It means I know a thing or two about working across different time zones, and, as your local wedding planner here in the UK, I’ll do everything I possibly can to ensure the process is smooth, stress-free and enjoyable for you.

How about weekend weddings or extended celebrations?

Many One Curious Dream couples choose to extend their wedding celebrations across multiple days. From selecting the perfect wedding venue and a dream team of wedding suppliers, I’ll create an extended wedding celebration that takes your guests needs into account across several days.

Do we have to use your preferred wedding suppliers?

As a truly independent Wedding Planner, I’m not tied to recommending specific venues or suppliers, so you’ll always have access to the very best of the best across the industry which allow us to build a personal, unique wedding that’s designed just for you.

It’s no secret that I have an incredible little black book full of top local wedding industry suppliers who are tried, tested and thoroughly trusted. I want your wedding to be exceptional, so I will always recommend the very best wedding suppliers (that work within your budget) for you to consider. Many of the wedding suppliers that I work with regularly offer discounts and incentives to my wedding planning clients too, and of course, savings and discounts are always passed on to you.

However, there is no pressure to accept my supplier recommendations, after all, it’s YOUR wedding, and YOU remain in the driving seat at all times. I regularly work with new wedding suppliers too, so if you have a wedding business in mind already, then tell me all about them, and I’ll find a way to incorporate their services into your wedding. I do ask that all suppliers provide a legally sound contract and have appropriate insurance in place.

How much do your wedding planning services cost?

Following an initial consultation, I’ll be able to provide a tailored proposal based on the complexity, size and duration of your wedding. Planning fees start from just 10% of your overall wedding event budget (specific exclusions apply), and a minimum investment applies.

Additional fees are chargeable for multi-day weddings or where additional site-based coverage is required. I’m very transparent in my fee structure and will ensure no hidden surprises, so you’ll always know how much my wedding planning services will cost.

I’m also able to offer a fixed fee for larger wedding budgets, so do let me know if this is something you would like to explore at your wedding consultation.

What are your payment terms?

For my wedding planning services, I require a 25% retainer to get your wedding plans underway. From there, I divide the balance into equal, interest-free monthly payments, with the final payment due no later than 30 days before your wedding.

What is an independent wedding planner?

There are many wedding planning bodies and organisations throughout the UK, and as a previous elite member of one of these, I spent many years being externally accredited.

However, I decided to become an independent wedding planner because it means I can operate within my own business code of conduct, which means my service levels are much higher than those expected when you are a member of an external organisation.

Additionally, I’m not tied to working with specific venues or suppliers neither am I encouraged to recommend venues or suppliers because they are fellow members of a membership body. So, you will always know that my recommendations are made with your very best interests at heart.

It means you will have access to an extensive portfolio of incredible venues and suppliers, (the very best of the best in the industry!) and can be confident that your wedding is entirely designed to fit your needs.

Do you charge commission?

I do not accept any form of commission or referral fee from wedding venues or suppliers.

I charge fairly for my wedding planning services, based on my skills, experience and your specific requirements, so I have no need to seek additional profit for the work I have already agreed to undertake for you.

This means you can rest safe in the knowledge that my wedding venue and wedding supplier recommendations are always made with your very best interests at heart and that all discounts and savings are passed directly to you.

Are you insured?

Yes, absolutely. I hold public and employers liability insurance as well as professional indemnity insurance.

Where are you based?

The One Curious Dream wedding planning studio is based in Norwich, the heart of Norfolk, where I plan amazing weddings with my small, yet perfectly formed team!

However, I split my working week to include several days in London (where many of my clients are based) and I regularly travel further afield throughout the UK for meetings, and of course, weddings!
