Frequently Asked Questions
Where do you plan weddings?
As a multi-award-winning Norfolk Wedding Planner, I work with couples across the globe to professionally plan, beautifully design and expertly produce wow-factor, award-winning weddings predominantly across Norfolk, Suffolk and throughout the East of England.
I regularly work further afield across the UK too; in fact, across the next couple of seasons, I’ll be travelling to Surrey, London, The Cotswolds, Liverpool and Wales, to name a few, and I love nothing more than a road trip to somewhere new!
I plan weddings in various settings, including country houses, stately homes, marquee/tipi weddings at home or on private land, rustic barns, luxe hotels and pretty much any other setting you can imagine! So if you have an unusual wedding venue or potential location in mind, it’s my job to bring your vision to life.
I’m very fortunate that my wedding planning services in the UK are very much in demand. Therefore, I focus purely on planning amazing UK weddings and, unfortunately, do not offer destination wedding planning services overseas.
What type of weddings do you plan?
My job as your dedicated wedding planner is to plan and design a wedding that is authentic, personal and unique. No two One Curious Dream weddings are ever the same, so whether you’re hoping to host a marquee or tipi wedding at home/on private land, get married in a stately home, country house, rustic barn, warehouse, luxe hotel or anywhere in-between, it’s my job to help bring your vision to life.
I’ve planned everything from beautifully whimsical outdoor weddings, intimate micro weddings, flamboyantly fun festival weddings, uber-luxurious hotel weddings, right through to elegant fairytale castle weddings.
I apply my signature laidback luxury style and approach to each wedding I plan and design, creating a wedding celebration that is professionally planned, beautifully designed and expertly delivered. The common thread between the weddings I plan and design is that our couples want to create a sincere occasion in a beautiful setting where the focus is on fun and celebration with their nearest and dearest!
What wedding budget do we need to work with you?
Honest answer? How long is a piece of string! I’ve planned small, intimate weddings for less than 20k and large, extravagant weddings with a budget of 6 figures+. I’m open, honest and transparent in the way I work with my wedding planning clients, so I’ll always help you understand what you can realistically achieve with the budget you have.
If I also think your wedding budget will be better spent on your wedding, rather than my fees, I’ll tell you! I want you to have an amazing wedding but I will only work with couples where I can truly add value to your wedding planning experience.
When should we book you?
As soon as possible! Simply, the sooner I come on board, the quicker I’m able to ensure your wedding planning journey is smooth and stress-free. The majority of my clients hire me at an early stage of their planning so that I can offer a comprehensive, end to end service. I do also work with clients at a later stage as well (take a look at my partial planning service), so the key is to get in touch whenever you feel you might need some professional support.
I’m also extremely privileged that my wedding planning services are in-demand, and key dates throughout the wedding season can book a couple of years in advance. Please do always get in touch to check availability and to find out how I can tailor a service to suit your requirements.
How many weddings do you work on each year?
I’m very fortunate to be hired by such wonderful couples each year! Planning a wedding is very time consuming (did you know, on average, it takes between 250-350 hours to plan a wedding?!) and therefore I limit the number of full wedding planning clients I work with each season.
I offer a highly personal, bespoke range of wedding planning services and will always do my best to ensure you feel like you’re my only wedding planning client. I offer wedding planning meetings at a time to suit you, including evenings and weekends.
The only time where I am unable to offer a weekend meeting is where I have a wedding booked. However, I’m always able to find a suitable alternative that fits around your commitments.
We’re not based in the UK, can you help us plan a wedding?
Absolutely! I’m truly proud of my global client base and I work with couples all over the world including America, Australia and the Middle East. It means I know a thing or two about working across different time zones, and, as your local wedding planner here in the UK, I’ll do everything I possibly can to ensure the process is smooth, stress-free and enjoyable for you.
How about weekend weddings or extended celebrations?
YES! Many One Curious Dream couples choose to extend their wedding celebrations across multiple days. From selecting the perfect wedding venue and a dream team of wedding suppliers, I’ll create an extended wedding celebration that takes your guests needs into account across several days.
Do we have to use your preferred wedding suppliers?
It’s no secret that I have an incredible little black book full of top wedding industry suppliers who are tried, tested and thoroughly trusted. I want your wedding to be exceptional, so I will always recommend the very best wedding suppliers (that work within your budget) for you to consider. Many of the wedding suppliers that I work with regularly offer discounts and incentives to my wedding planning clients too, and of course, savings and discounts are always passed on to you.
However, there is no pressure to accept my supplier recommendations, after all, it’s YOUR wedding, and YOU remain in the driving seat at all times. I regularly work with new wedding suppliers too, so if you have a wedding business in mind already, then tell me all about them, and I’ll find a way to incorporate their services into your wedding. I do ask that all suppliers provide a legally sound contract and have appropriate insurance in place – I’m belt and braces about this as it’s your wedding and I want nothing left to chance!
How much do your wedding planning services cost?
Following an initial consultation, I’ll be able to provide a tailored proposal based on the complexity, size and duration of your wedding. Planning fees start from just 12% of your overall wedding event budget (specific exclusions apply), and a minimum investment applies. Additional fees are chargeable for multi-day weddings or where additional site-based coverage is required. I’m very transparent in my fee structure and will ensure no hidden surprises, so you’ll always know how much my wedding planning services will cost.
I’m also able to offer a fixed fee for larger wedding budgets, so do let me know if this is something you would like to explore at your wedding consultation.
What are your payment terms?
For my wedding planning services, I require a 25% retainer to get your wedding plans underway. From there, I divide the balance into equal, interest-free monthly payments, with the final payment due no later than 30 days before your wedding.
Do you accept commission?
As an Elite member of the UK Alliance of Wedding Planners, I do not accept any form of commission or referral fee for recommending you and your wedding to venues or suppliers. I charge fairly for my wedding planning services, based on my skills, experience and your specific requirements, so I have no need to seek additional profit for the work I have already agreed to undertake for you. This means you can rest safe in the knowledge that my wedding venue and wedding supplier recommendations are always made with your very best interests at heart and that all discounts and savings are passed directly to you.
Are you accredited?
Yes! I am an elite member of the UK Alliance of Wedding Planners, the UK’s leading body for Wedding Planners. I am one of only 12 wedding planners in the UK to become an elite member and achieve the highest level of accreditation. This means I have been independently vetted and certified as an exceptional, industry-leading wedding planner – the very best of the best!
Are you insured?
Yes, absolutely. I hold public and employers liability insurance as well as professional indemnity insurance, which protects the professional advice I share with you.
Where are you based?
The One Curious Dream HQ is based in Norwich, the heart of Norfolk. Whilst I adore planning weddings across Norfolk, London, Suffolk, Cambridge and Essex, I work UK-wide and love nothing more than a road trip!
Working at different venues and exploring new areas in the UK is one of the favourite aspects of my job. I’m fortunate to have an incredible portfolio of wedding venues and trusted wedding suppliers right across the UK, built through many years of relationship building. This means that wherever you are hoping to marry, it’s likely I can help!
I’m looking to become a wedding planner/gain work experience, can you help?
I advertise all wedding planning roles and work experience opportunities within One Curious Dream on this website, so please keep your eyes peeled. Unfortunately, I’m unable to accept speculative applications.
If you’re looking for professional mentoring to become a wedding planner, please get in touch to discuss my 1-2-1 wedding planner mentoring service, and I can share all of the information and pricing with you.
